The Marketing Ability team
Marketing Ability's four partners are joined by a number of associates to create a team with extensive marketing experience, knowldge and specialist skills:
Partners
Bob Hogg BSc MSc PGCE MCIM Chartered Marketer
Bob is a partner in Marketing Ability and a principal tutor with Peterborough College of Marketing. As well as lecturing on CIM-accredited courses, Bob is also a CIM Examiner, so twice a year he is busy marking exam papers from around the world.
After gaining a Master's degree in Marketing in 1971, Bob had a marketing career with Beecham Group and Unilever before establishing the Prontaprint franchise in Peterborough in 1980. This led to a period as UK Marketing Director for Prontaprint plc.
Bob established Pointer Marketing as a marketing training business in 1998 and he has since developed training programmes within local companies including Travelex, EMAP and British Sugar. He is also a well-known member of the Peterborough business scene, a former President of Peterborough Chamber of Commerce and a former Chairman of Peterborough City Centre Forum.
Yvonne McMenemy BA Hons MSc PGCE MCIM ILTHE
Yvonne is a partner in Marketing Ability and a principal tutor with Peterborough College of Marketing. Previously, Yvonne worked as Programme Director BSc Business Studies for Loughborough University at Peterborough, when she also gained a PGCE and an MSc in Strategic Marketing Management.
Her career before becoming an educator was in consumer marketing. After completing a Business Studies with Marketing degree, Yvonne embarked on a career with companies such as Avon, Bristol Myers and Revlon, where she was UK Marketing Director.
Yvonne is a full member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and a member of the Institute of Learning and Teaching for Higher Education.
Richard Groom ACIM
Richard is a partner in Marketing Ability and a guest tutor in marketing communications with Peterborough College of Marketing. He is also a freelance marketing copywriter who formed Peterborough Copywriting Bureau in 2000 to work with small and large companies to develop marketing campaign materials such as newsletters, brochures and web sites.
As well as writing marketing materials himself, Richard also provides training to others. He has delivered training on marketing and copywriting skills to companies including Anglia Regional Co-operative Society, Thomas Cook and Corus, and to hundreds of individuals through seminars he has organised and those run by the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
Richard has also written numerous articles on marketing as part of his 'Marketing Booster' email newsletter that has attracted subscribers across the world.
Andrew Goode MSc MBA MCIM Chartered Marketer
Andrew is a partner in Marketing Ability and a guest tutor in strategic marketing with Peterborough College of Marketing. After gaining technology-based qualifications whilst working for major manufacturers such as British Timken and Plessey, Andrew started within marketing roles for major companies such as RS Components and Pact International where he was responsible for significant customer facing activities.
Having gained an MSc in Marketing and an MBA from Loughborough, Andrew has worked in an SME consultancy role for almost ten years and established his own strategic business development consultancy, Blue Dolphin, in 2001, working with clients such as GE and Business Link.
A full member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Andrew is also on the SBS Consultancy Register and often delivers marketing training programmes on behalf of Business Link. Andrew is listed on the National Business Link Consultants Register and is an approved provider on the Development Network.
Associates
Chris Pursehouse MBA PGCE Dip.M MCIM Chartered Marketer
A graduate in business studies from Huddersfield University, and holding an MBA from the University of Northampton, Chris has 20 years of marketing experience in B2B and B2C environments across varied sectors. He has also undertaken extensive research projects for a number of companies including Travelex Global Payments and DS Smith Packaging.
Chris has ten years of teaching and training experience, at degree level and as a tutor on Peterborough College of Marketing's Certficiate and Diploma courses.
Caroline Robertson BA Hons Dip.M ACIM
Caroline's 13 years of experience in marketing started in international TV based in Paris with TV5 and Eurosport, where her degree in French and Spanish was an asset. In 2004 she moved back to the UK and worked on sales and marketing for a small drinks company, becoming business unit manager for the UK and running the distribution activities for over a year. She followed this with another change of sector working as head of marketing for the leading motorbike insurer.
Caroline now offers freelance marketing skills with a particular passion and specialism in customer journey and customer experience. It is mostly in this area that she works as an associate with Marketing Ability, leading our Customer Journey Development consultancy programme.
Gordon Adams FCIM MMRS MIDM Chartered Marketer
Gordon is an associate of Marketing Ability and a guest tutor in marketing research with Peterborough College of Marketing. He has spent over 20 years in marketing and market research roles for major companies, including spells at the BBC, Reed International and Thomas Cook, where he was Global Research Manager.
Gordon now runs his own research consultancy business, Alternative Futures, with clients such as Travelex, Perkins, EMAP, Churchill and Lunn Poly.
Gordon is a Chartered Marketer and a full member of the Market Research Society, the Chartered Institute of Marketing and the Institute of Direct Marketing.
Harvey Richards Chartered Marketer Dip.M DMS AIBC MCIM MCMI
Harvey is a tutor with Peterborough College of Marketing in Norwich. He has several years' experience of tutoring on CIM qualification courses, a task to which he brings his knowledge as a business consultant with specialist expertise in strategic and operational marketing.
With a varied career that has included direct sales, technical, supervisory and management roles, Harvey has worked across various industries including the energy, manufacturing, financial services and engineering sectors.
Harvey's experience in marketing includes establishing marketing departments, designing and implementing market penetration strategies, and establishing networks of international distributors. He formed Business Development Solutions over a decade ago and in this capacity helps a range of organisations to create and keep customers in a variety of sectors. He is also involved with regional business support organisations, helping start-up and SME businesses in Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.
